Frequently Asked Questions:

Q1. What is a Deductible?
(Example: I have a $2,000 deductible)

A1. Your deductible is your portion of major medical expenses, such as Hospital Stays, Surgeries, and any major testing, in a calendar year. Once you reach your deductible, the insurance company will pay at the designated coinsurance percentage. (Plans vary*)

Q2. How does the Coinsurance Percentage work?
(Example: My plan covers at 70%)

A2. Coinsurance is the percentage that insurance company pays on major medical expenses after you have reached your deductible. You will be responsible for your percentage, up to the out of pocket maximum. (Plans vary*)

Q3. What is an Out-of-Pocket Maximum?
(Example: My plan has a $2,000 out-of-pocket maximum)

A3. Once you have reached your deductible and you have paid your coinsurance percentage up to your out-of-pocket maximum, in a calendar year, then the insurance company will pay at 100%. (Plans vary*)

Q4. What about Doctor Visit Co-pays?
(Example: I have a $40 Doctor Visit Copay with 6 visits per year)

A4. This is what you pay when you go to the Doctorýs Office, including specialists. You do not have to meet your major medical deductible before you can go to the Doctor and pay your Copay. Take note that you may have different co-pays for certain visits and you may have a limit on Doctor Visits per year. (Plans vary*)

Q5. What happens if I go to the Emergency Room?
(Example: My plan has a $150 Emergency Room Copay)

A5. As long as you are not admitted to the hospital, you will only pay your Copay. If you are admitted to the hospital, your Copay will be waived and the charges will go to your major medical deductible. (Plans vary*)

Q6. Do these plans cover Prescription Drugs?

A6. Yes, you will have a brand drug deductible that you must meet before you pay your Copay. Generic prescriptions do not have a deductible, so you pay your Copay or the cost of the Generic Prescription. (Plans vary*)
